Turkish-Greek Population Exchange Panel The Turkish-Greek Population Exchange Panel was organised in collaboration with Edremit Municipality and Edremit City Council.
On the 102nd anniversary of the Turkish-Greek Population Exchange, Edremit Municipality and Edremit City Council, in collaboration with the Balkan and Aegean Application and Research Centre, contributed to the organisation of the panel discussion entitled ‘The Historical Context of the Exchange, the Cultural Assets Brought and the Architectural Heritage Left Behind’, held on 13 February 2025 at the Şükrü Tunar Cultural Centre in Edremit. Our centre director, Prof. Dr. Aşkın Koyuncu, moderated the panel, with presentations by Prof. Dr. Özkul Çobanoğlu (Hacettepe University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Erdem (Istanbul University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neval Konuk Halaçoğlu (Marmara University) and researcher Kemal Girgin. The panel was attended by Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş, Deputy Mayor Metin Tuncer, Edremit City Council President Prof. Dr. Abdullah Soykan, members of the Kuvayı Milliye Assembly, NGO representatives, and a large number of listeners.
